I'm Caroline, and I read the Tarot here in Dublin.

Of all the Tarot cards in the traditional Rider Waite deck, I relate most to the High Priestess' intuition and The Queen of Wands' enthusiasm!

I have been using Oracle and Tarot cards for about 15 years - using the cards as a way of confirming intuitive messages.

I use the traditional Tarot as much as possible, preferring the visual clarity of The Rider Waite Deck.

The Rider Waite deck narrates The Fool's Journey beautifully.

The Fool represents the innocent, untainted soul - full of curiosity and a good dose of naivety. His path, just like all of our paths, is to grow and mature whilst navigating life lessons.

The Fools Journey is a journey through all life stages represented by the major archetypes of the Major Arcana.

In the Minor Arcana, The Cups offer emotional guidance, The Wands, momentum and drive, The Pentacles, concrete suggestions and plans, The Swords, mental clarity. They tie together the four elements - water, fire, earth and air.

No matter the question, the Tarot will give you sharp insight into the conditions you find yourself in now, as well as strong guidance for the path ahead.

The Minor Arcana excels at giving powerful answers to your deepest questions.

Tarot is first and foremost about Transformation.

Some of my favourite Tarot cards are The Sun, The Star, The Empress, The Magician, The High Priestess, The Queen of Wands, The Ace of Cups, The Nine of Pentacles

 And...wait for it... The Tower, The Devil and Death.

Rather then a dark, unfortunate omen, I see the last three cards as liberating - a confirmation that my intense inner world is reflected in the Tarot.

Personally, the more challenging the situation, the more I welcome a spread with lots of Major Arcana cards.

Challenging cards are always an invitation to fully integrate the shadow elements within ourselves.

Importantly, there are no negative cards in The Tarot, only opportunities for growth.

The cards that invoke the most dread - The Tower, Death, The Hanged Man, and The Devil - as well as the more challenging Minor Arcana cards - are all about transformation.

The Tower is about a breaking apart old structures that no longer serve, Death brings about renewal, The Hanged Man is a state of suspension offering reflection, The Devil is about the prisons we create psychologically and from which we can always free ourselves - with conscious effort. Notice that the people in chains in The Devil card can escape their binds, and The Hanged Man looks serene because he is only suspended.

No matter your question, the Tarot will reveal an answer closely tied to transformation. Or what needs to be transformed in a situation that you are inquiring about for the best outcome.

Most transformation is first and foremost about Self-transformation.

No wonder the Tarot is so closely linked to astrology - with major cards of Transformation linked to planet Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth, and ultimately, Truth. Not to mention other strong astrological associations: The Moon (unprocessed emotion), The Empress (fertile, nourishing Taurus)...Like astrology, Tarot deals with the language of universal archetypes.

Much like The Hermit card, or the Wise Man archetype, the Tarot is a way to light our own lamp and look inwards.

We are master of our own destiny, and The Tarot when used well, can help illuminate the path.

Guidance from Caroline's Dublin Tarot Reading -

It took me a while to decide how I wanted to read the Tarot. Specifically, how far into the future I wanted to see for people. How much of the "fortune teller" aspect I wanted to embrace.

I prefer to look at Tarot, not as a fixed reading of the future, or a "destiny" set in stone , but as a mirror where we can see the influences upon us in the present moment, as well as the possible shape of things to come - all the while knowing we are free to change course.

In the end I decided that the present moment always contains Grace - and the opportunity for a change of course. We can receive help and guidance at all times, even when we least expect it.

As for my Tarot Card Spreads - rather then using classic spreads like the Celtic Cross, I pull the cards intuitively. I often pull 3 cards horizontally to represent recent influences, the present moment, and the near future. Upon the present moment I like stack cards, where each card from the top of the stack down represents pressure on the current moment - the situations activating upon, or influencing, the present present moment. This can be incredibly revealing. For example, let's say the present moment is depicted by the 3 of Swords (Heart Break). The cards stacked upon it may show the "why" of this heart break, or other things to consider in this situation presently.

Perhaps immediately above the Three of Swords is stacked The Six of Cups (soul mates, sweetness, nostalgia) and The Knight of Cups (a quest for true love, romance) and then The Page of Pentacles (a desire to reach out with a concrete message). We can conclude that this heart break is not necessarily foretelling of a gloomy ending - that the circumstances around it are still, genuine heartfelt affection and above all, the desire to reach out and perhaps to make amends.

About my remote Tarot Readings.

Although I am based in Blackrock, Dublin, I do remote readings and send your reading and summary over email.

I always ask for the answer to your question be revealed: "if and only if it is for the highest good". After all, when I open an energetic portal and connect with The Tarot, I don't invite just anyone and everyone!

Just as with a house party, you don't let random strangers through the front door. In much the same way, I ask that the Tarot reading be completed in a protected space.

This means you can send me your question from anywhere in the world.

I will always pay close attention to flying cards, cards that reveal themselves beneath others that are being picked, or those rare ones facing up rather then down, or of course, the classic reversed cards. Every card has a shadow meaning.

Even after collapse and deep transformation, there is a new hope, a new beginning.

Consider the double edged truth of a Swords card, the Ace of Swords that gives you such clarity - but is it what you had hoped for? What are you not seeing?

The Ten of Swords may signal rock bottom but from there, things can only get better. the 10 of Swords is the dark night of the soul, yes, but it means there is a new dawn.

Then we can consider the cards when they are reversed. The Empress reversed means her nourishing, abundant, replendent energy has gone to waste - her passion has waned, her boundaries have collapsed. Abundance may have given way to excess, generosity into selfishness and even, cruelty. Her beautiful feminine energy has been hijacked...but why?

I often will draw a card to the far right of the main spread - as a final outcome.

In a love reading, The Lovers may well be the desired outcome! There is also the Two of Cups, Knight of Cups, and other cards that show love and passion. Where the Six of Cups often reflects a soul mate relationship, The Devil is a strong card of passion as well as compulsion, obsession and toxic relationships. The Devil is more a psychological prison of the mind then a literal entrapment.
